Job Title
Supervise, schedule, assign, and inspect the work activities of custodial staff on an assigned shift. Coordinate the preparation for routine and special events and activities, identify and resolve problems. Manage and distribute inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials. Train staff and assign a variety of custodial and manual labor tasks in County facilities. Update custodial MSD sheets and inform staff of new chemicals. Review Custodians work and assure compliance with Department standards. Plan and supervise major cleaning projects for facilities as directed. Process and assign work orders, complete required daily logs, evaluations, and reports. Inspect and maintain assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating condition. Monitor work and verify that staff follows all safety rules and regulations and report safety hazards, equipment problems, repair needs, security issues, and emergency situations. Perform work of Custodian as needed to meet workload demands. Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements To Perform Work : High school diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of custodial experience. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and / or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements. Preferred Qualifications : Arizona residents must have a valid Arizona Drivers License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, and supplies used in facilities maintenance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, including proper use and storage of chemicals, and OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for hazardous chemicals used in the workplace. Skill in assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of others. Skill in training staff in proper work methods and safety procedures. Skill in safely using tools, equipment, and chemicals. Ability to work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to follow and maintain safety standards, including work in detention facilities and other secure areas.
Physical Demands
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, feel, grasp, handle, reach, kneel, lift, perform repetitive motion, stoop, stand, walk, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
