The Sarasota County Fire Department is growing and excited to announce a new opportunity for a Community Risk Reduction Coordinator (Business Professional III). This new position will help shape and lead the department's community risk reduction efforts — programs designed to make our community safer and stronger. From smoke alarm installations and CPR training to youth fire safety initiatives and public education events, this position plays an essential role in keeping Sarasota County residents informed, prepared, and protected.

About the Schedule
Work Hours : Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
About You
Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Emergency Management, Fire Science, Business Administration, Planning, Communications, or a job-related field with 3 years of professional job-related experience.
OR : Master's degree in an accredited college or university in a related field with 2 years of professional job-related experience.
OR : 7 years of professional job-related experience in management of technical projects / programs and strategic planning may substitute for the required education.
Florida Fire and Life Safety Educator certification or be willing to obtain within 1 year of hire. (We can help with this!)
Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and / or abilities :

Subject to Passing Substance Screening : This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.
Physical Demands : Employees in this role must occasionally lift and / or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and / or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.
CJIS Clearance : The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as part of the hiring process.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Pay Range : $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
