Starting annual salary $88,125 working 15 hours per week and $187,998.73 working 32 hours per week commensurate with experience and you will also receive a $10,000 sign on bonus.
JOB SUMMARY
The Village for Families & Children, a non-profit agency over 200 years old, in the Hartford-area, seeks a board eligible or board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to support its mission of helping to build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children.
Psychiatrist must be comfortable treating diverse cultural populations and enjoy being part of dynamic multidisciplinary teams.
It's an opportunity to support children and families in crisis, but who do not need hospital level of care, in a more nurturing and calming environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clinical Responsibilities
- Provides psychiatric assessment, evaluation, psychopharmacological follow-up, and monitoring of children's treatment in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Works in a multi-disciplinary team in the assessment, treatment and discharge of children who are cared for in the psychiatric Urgent Care Center.
- Back-up to psychiatric consultants and clinical staff as needed including emergency situations.
- On-call responsibilities via telephone as part of a rotation of psychiatric staff for after-hour emergencies.
- Provides consultation and training to clinical staff as needed.
- Participates in interdisciplinary teams.
- Completes documentation as required by agency practices and licensing requirements.
2. Administrative / Management Responsibilities
- Provides supervision of psychiatric consultants and APRNs, and clerical staff in the Urgent Care Center.
- Continuous improvement and monitoring of implementation of psychiatric policies and procedures.
- Participates in the ongoing development of standards for clinical practice at the Village.
3. Professional Leadership Responsibilities
- Liaison to the medical community.
- Liaison to the psychiatric community.
- Liaison to the academic community.
Experience and Skills
EDUCATION
MD / DO from an accredited institution.
Licensure Requirements
Connecticut state professional license, and Board eligible / Board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Cultural competency to serve African American, Latino / Puerto Rican, and West Indian families.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Experience in ER / consultation liaison psychiatry is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other. disciplines, including clinical and clerical staff.
- Excellent assessment, diagnostic and psychopharmacological treatment skills.
- Strong dedication to workplace mentorship, education, and team-based care.
- Flexible and able to multi-task.
- Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows XP environment.
Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus.
- Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position in a standard office environment, with or without reasonable accommodations, and the ability to interact with children and adolescents in a therapeutic environment / situation without risk of injury.
