Campus Public Safety Supervisor Full Time Ankeny, IA

The Campus Public Safety Supervisor serves as the day-to-day supervisor of a campus security team that includes five campuses in the Des Moines Metro area. The Campus Public Safety Supervisor works alongside other security team members to ensure a safe and secure environment.

What Your Day May Look Like :

  • Patrol campus by foot patrol, vehicle patrol, bike patrol, and maintain stationary posts.
  • De-escalate major and minor conflicts on campus.
  • Work with state and federal law enforcement during major and minor events.
  • Work events and use crowd control measures, as needed.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, disturbances, vehicle accidents and other events on campus.
  • Respond to panic alarms, assaults, and armed intruders on campus.
  • Conduct lighting and other safety / security inspections of the campus.
  • Conduct scan patrols of fixed locations.
  • Arming / unarming, locking, and unlocking of buildings.
  • Escort students, staff, and visitors, as requested.
  • Monitor camera systems.
  • Maintain basic preventative maintenance checks for the security vehicles.
  • Able to direct traffic and monitor parking lots.
  • Complete vehicle jump starts and vehicle unlocks.

  • Position Requirements :

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma, GED, or ability to complete the GED program within 6 months.
  • Standard computer / technology skills needed.
  • Must be able to interact with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner.
  • Must have great attention to detail and remain vigilant throughout shift.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies with rapid / effective judgment and use appropriate escalation.
  • All candidates must be willing to participate in the companys pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
  • Must have a reliable means of communication, such as a cell phone.
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid drivers license or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a security license with the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.
  • Education / Experience :

  • 5+ years of experience in the security / military / law enforcement industry with leadership responsibilities.
  • Associate or bachelors degree in criminal justice or commensurate work experience in safety, security, military, or law enforcement.
  • Experience with maintaining weekly security team schedule.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Special Requirements :

  • Able to work evening or weekend hours when required, such as during an emergency event or crisis.
  • This is an armed position. Must be able to pass company and state requirements to carry a firearm.
