JOB SUMMARY

Case Worker II reports to the Supervising Case Worker and will provide supervision, direct case management, and employment services to Golden State RRC residents.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a caseload of Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) residents.
  • Provide new residents with a comprehensive orientation to the program.
  • Conduct initial assessments and develop an Individual Program Plan (IPP) for assigned residents to include physical, mental, emotional and social service needs; skill and literacy level; substance use status; family needs, basic needs.
  • Include input and approval from the Supervising Case Worker or Program Director in resident IPPs and assessments.
  • Educate residents and provide them with guidance to understand and follow program rules and procedures.
  • Meet with residents no less than bi-weekly for ongoing assessment, IPP updates, assist with meeting programming goals, and encourage progress.
  • Make written case notes regarding resident behavior, noting significant intervention and changes in individual program plans (IPPs).
  • Serve as a resource for residents to advise them of education and training opportunities available in the community.
  • Provide individual and group services.
  • Refer residents to special outside groups and seminars and verify their attendance and the quality of services.
  • Assist residents in appropriate utilization of referral services.
  • Obtain information necessary from residents to complete FBOP reporting requirements.
  • Assist and schedule residents for classes and workshops.
  • Ensure availability for one-on-on meetings, with residents, as needed.
  • Maintain resident files to reflect FBOP contract compliance.
  • Monitor resident accountability, review and approve passes for movement in the community, and provide suitable follow-up for infractions of rules.
  • Monitor individuals on home confinement.
  • Become familiar with the FBOP Statement of Work for the residential reentry center.
  • Participate in all required FBOP scheduled trainings and program review team meetings.
  • Provide direct job development activities and utilize community partnerships for off-site employment assistance
  • Responsible for all initial job site approval documents.
  • Provide home confinement and work site visits.
  • Monitor residents' work schedules, overtime, check stubs, and income deposits.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Supervising Case Worker or Program Director.
  • Available as a resource for the monitor staff.
  • Maintain a caseload of FBOP residents as assigned by the Supervising Case Worker or Program Director.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Will drive on Agency business.
  • Physical presence at the program is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree in a social, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program form an accredited college or university and a minimum of one (1) year work experience working in a human services, corrections, or community-based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies, exchanging one (1) year of work experience in a related field for one (1) year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five (5) years.
  • Knowledge and understanding of criminal behaviors and related behavioral health issues including mental health and substance use.
  • Two (2) years of case management experience working with justice involved individuals is preferred.
  • Current certified training in emergency First Aid and CPR procedures, preferred.
  • Ability to write substantive and grammatically correct reports.
  • Ability to work with residents and staff members of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and databases.
  • Operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment and specialized software application programs.
  • Prepare, review, and present reports, recommendations, and other correspondence and communications in a clear and concise manner.
  • Be on-site at the assigned location during regularly scheduled work hours.
  • Must complete at least 40 hours of assigned training on an annual basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication / meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and TB test.
