Campus Building Inspector / Inspector Of Record
Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM) is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University's facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Design and Construction team as the Campus Building Inspector / Inspector of Record (Administrator II). Under the general supervision of the Director of Planning, Design, and Construction, or their designee, the Campus Building Inspector / Inspector of Record manages and supervises the University's permitting and inspection program. Supervises and monitors the work of special project inspectors. Provides guidance to project administrators, managers, and others. Confirms compliance with all state building codes and the State University Administration Manual (SUAM) to ensure fulfillment of all project requirements. Completes daily field inspections. Coordinates regulatory approvals, permitting, and inspection by State Agencies, Office of Fire Safety, campus departments, and special / or certified testing and inspections. Solicits proposals from testing inspection consultants. Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures. Enters and maintains data into the inspection reporting software. Coordinates project closeout procedures and resolves problems independently. Responsible for accessibility evaluations and preparing or overseeing Certified Access Specialist reports.

Essential Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering, architecture, or a related discipline. A minimum of five years of direct professional experience in construction inspection and two years of experience supervising inspection, construction administration, or related activities. Possession of International Code Council (B2 Commercial Building Inspector) certification minimum, or Division of State Architect (DSA) Project Inspector or Department of Health Care and Information (HCAI formerly OSHPD) Inspector, or the equivalent from a nationally recognized agency. Thorough knowledge of California Building Codes, State or Federal Codes, ADA / Accessibility, and Safety Codes and requirements. Ability to read construction plans and understand construction schedules. Possession of excellent computer, interpersonal, and written skillset.
Preferred Qualifications include experience working in a large institutional, university, or public works type setting. Experience working with the State Fire Marshall and the Office of Fire Safety. Certified Access Specialist (CASp) certification.
