Lead, Insurance Tax
The Lead, Insurance Tax is a technical position within the Tax Department with primary tax accounting and compliance responsibilities. This position is responsible for managing the preparation of and initial review of federal filings and audits for the insurance entities. This position is also responsible for leading the quarterly and annual reporting for insurance entities, directing other staff and is responsible for detailed review and execution of key controls.
This position will report to the Director, Tax. This role may manage an intern.
Duties and responsibilities include : preparing and / or reviewing statutory income tax accounting and reporting, collaborating with the Investment tax team, responsible for timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual tax requirements, leading the preparation of tax basis balance sheets, performing internal controls, responsible for communicating with auditors, managing preparation and review of federal income tax returns, reviewing check requests and wire payments, detail review of Life Entities' Federal Tax Return, performing tax research, assisting with federal, state, and local taxing authority inquiries and audits, leading role with tax software automations, responsible for identifying and implementing automation, assisting in or leading tax projects, collaborating with the strategy team to analyze new transactions.
Experience and education requirements include : bachelor's degree required with preference in Accounting / Finance, minimum 5 years experience in related field or combination of experience with a professional designation, experience working in regulated environment, insurance industry experience preferred, professional designation in related field preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities include : demonstrated working knowledge of tax accounting principles, demonstrated knowledge of tax software systems, good financial diagnosis and analytical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly intermediate to advance proficiency with Microsoft Excel, driven, team-oriented individual, process improvement mindset, strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong analytical and intuitive skills, ability to handle multiple complex tasks & prioritize in fast paced environment, self-directed individual who works well with teams, embraces and demonstrates F&G's cultural values.
Other requirements include : perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned, regular and punctual attendance, ability to travel up to 10%.
