Product Development

Mosaic Companies, a premier branded supplier of luxury surface materials, is searching for a Product Developer! This role coordinates the development of product range from sourcing to production for our Big Box customers.

This role collaborates with sales, product management, and supply chain to attend to customer needs and builds strategic sourcing and product launch plans.

This includes managing timelines from start to finish, identifying and vetting suppliers who meet quality standards, and liaising with Supply Chain when negotiating prices and production capacity.

The Senior Product Designer reports directly to the SVP and GM Retail and Distribution

What you will do

• Collaborates with key stakeholders (sales, supply chain, marketing, product management) in determining product launch plans and product range
• Research market and competitors to determine the most compelling product specifications and pricing
• Creates and documents product specification details
• Creates and maintains a library of accurate product specification documents and a tracking system accessible to stakeholders
• Monitor product quality through sample inspections and factory corrective actions
• Works closely with operations and Spain and China offices for ongoing quality assurance, developing corrective action plans as required
• Subject matter expertise in mosaics and tile
• Identify and vet factories (with support from Spain and China offices) that meet quality, price, and service requirements;

handing off to Supply Chain

• Maintains tracking system of factory qualifications and performance scorecard
• Frequent travel, including overnight.

Skills we are excited about

• Design Thinking : empathy, integrative thinking, optimism, experimentation, and collaboration
• A strong understanding of design principles, including aesthetics, functionality, and user experience
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and cost considerations
• Experiance with sketching, 3D modeling, prototyping, and design for manufacturing is a plus.
• Design Software Proficiency
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; being able to competently guide stakeholders through demonstrations
