Schedule : Full-time, Monday – Thursday, 6 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM, or Tuesday – Friday, 6 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM

Position Overview

Madison Wood Preservers, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate machinery used in the transportation and handling of lumber within our facility. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are committed to safety, efficiency, and teamwork. While experience is strongly preferred, we provide training to ensure proper equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment to transport lumber and load / unload trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Safely handle, stack, and store materials to prevent damage.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management and material staging.
  • Work with team members to meet production goals.
  • Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing safety and equipment training.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and safety-minded.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week).
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate power tools as needed.
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and inclines.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with and without assistance.
  • Ability to work around loud noises for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform manual labor in a fast-paced production environment.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of recent forklift or heavy equipment operation experience.
  • Stable work history with a record of reliability and attendance.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team setting.
