Crib Attendant – Automotive Parts & Tool Inventory Specialist
Location : Detroit, MI.
Job Type : Full-Time | On-Site | Overtime & Weekends as Needed.
Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Crib Attendant to manage the parts and tool crib operations at a high-volume, third-party automotive repair facility specializing in brand-new OEM vehicles. This role plays a critical part in supporting shop efficiency by overseeing inventory management, tool control, and shop flow coordination. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities :
- Maintain an organized, accurate, and accessible inventory of tools, parts, and consumables.
- Manage tool and parts check-in / check-out procedures; continuously improve tracking systems.
- Monitor all incoming and outgoing inventory, including reusable parts, cores, scrap, and take-off components.
- Support the shop team by prioritizing parts / tool needs and aligning resources accordingly.
- Occasionally assist with parts pick-ups and deliveries when needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and process-driven crib environment in compliance with facility standards.
- Communicate clearly with technicians, team members, and leadership to prioritize tasks in real-time.
- Recommend and document process improvements to enhance crib operations.
- Collaborate with mechanics to understand workflow needs and adjust crib operations accordingly.
Required Qualifications :
Solid mechanical understanding of automotive parts and tools (hands-on repair not required).Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.Effective verbal and written communication abilities.Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word).Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.Valid driver’s license required.Able to manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities based on urgency and shop flow.Preferred Qualifications :
Forklift or Hilo operation experience.Ability to drive a 26ft box truck with air brakes (CDL not required but a plus).Prior experience in a fast-paced automotive or warehouse environment.What We’re Looking For :
