POSITION INFORMATION :

Faculty will teach college-level courses to professional technical students and Business Administration program transfer students.

They also contribute to the College’s efforts to improve student retention and success. Opportunities are available for teaching in learning communities, online, and in other non-traditional learning environments.

This position requires in-person teaching on the college campus.

Successful applicants will be responsible for teaching Accounting courses including Financial and Managerial Accounting.

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise students, assist with assessment of current instructional methods, develop programs and curricula, and participate in Shoreline governance, department, division, and campus-related professional activities.

Faculty at Shoreline will have an array of students from differing programs in their classroom, including professional technical and university transfers.

Shoreline seeks a candidate that can identify and mitigate the barriers to success that many students face and be passionate about creating an equitable learning environment that supports success for all students .

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in accounting or related business graduate degree with a minimum 15 graduate credits in accounting
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time work experience or combination of work in accounting, business management, finance or a closely related field, or teaching in a field related to accounting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technology
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of accounting
  • Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online
  • Contributing to equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
  • Effective oral / written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds / abilities
  • Developing / modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
  • Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds

Conditions of Employment

Physical Work Environment : The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option for some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs.

On-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom / office space that requires standing and / or sitting for extended periods of time.

Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment. This position requires in-person, on-campus teaching.

Terms of Employment & Salary :

This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching / work experience combined with educational preparation.

Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education.

Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time.

A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.
