Controls Engineer
An established and growing machine building company is in need of Controls Engineer. The opportunity has developed into someone who can immediately provide expertise in programming industrial controls including PLCs, HMIs, Robots, and SCADA systems. Responsibilities :
- Design, program, and test PLC logic and HMI applications for automation equipment and robotic systems.
- Develop electrical schematics, I / O lists, and panel layouts in collaboration with electrical designers.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of equipment and controls.
- Integrate sensors, vision systems, robots, drives, and motion control into automation projects.
- Conduct system simulations, debug programs, and optimize performance during commissioning.
- Provide on-site startup, troubleshooting, and support for customer installations.
- Interface directly with customers to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Interpret client requirements, specifications, standards, process diagrams and P&ID documents.
- Document all controls software, configurations, and revisions for long-term support.
- Work within labor, material, and timeline budgets to ensure project success.
- Duties may expand into Robotics and / or SCADA as warranted by client demand.
Qualifications :
Dependability and a strong work ethic is a must!Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics (or related field).8–10+ years of controls engineering experience in industrial automation or machine building.Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and / or Keyence preferred).Vision system experience (Keyence, Cognex, etc.).Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols (EtherNet / IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).Solid understanding of servo / motion control and variable frequency drives.Knowledge of machine safety standards and integration of machine safety devices and principles.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to meet customer needs.Nice to have :o Robotics integration experience (FANUC, UR, KUKA, Yasakawa, etc.)
o SCADA systems such as Inductive Automation Ignition
o Familiarity with Java, C++, Python, etc. for advanced controls
o Experience with database integration or MES systems.
