Minimum Requirements & Essential Functions :
Note - This position is located at the Orange County Sheriff's Office Sector I Substation - Northwest Orange County - 1111 N. Rock Springs Rd. Apopka, FL 32712
Provides clerical and administrative assistance by performing the following duties :
At least 18 years of age.
Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
No illegal drug usage within the past year. Other drug usage will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Must have a valid Florida driver's license.
Depending on assignment, may be required to complete FCIC / NCIC certified within one (1) year of accepting position.
May also be required to become a Public Notary within six (6) months of employment.
Ability to perform escorting duties when directing court personnel and jurors (i.e. courtrooms and ordering meals for jury, returning to courtrooms, etc.)
Ability to answer questions verbally or in writing regarding unit-specific issues and route questions to the appropriate personnel.
Respond to requests for documents and other information; may have to exercise some independent judgment in accordance with public information laws regarding disclosure.
Ability to maintain logs and appropriately inventory, order, and distribute equipment / items as needed (e.g. office supplies, personal protective equipment, etc.)
Ability to enter data, retrieve information and verify accuracy of records; run queries, modify records and update files to and from the appropriate databases
Ability to perform other clerical duties as needed, such as sorting / sending, sorting and distributing mail, completing, and filing. May have to perform notary work (if applicable).
Ability to administer subpoenas, statistical reports, incident reports.
May assist personnel and the general public with paperwork.
Depending on assignment, may be required to collect money and issue receipts.
Must have the ability to read and interpret legal documents, technical procedures and Florida State Statutes.
Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
Ability to effectively present and speak to citizens, vendors, judges, law enforcement and employees of an organization.
Ability to work well with others and have effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to have intermediate math skills to include calculating discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and statistics.
Ability to problem solve with several variables. Ability to deal with money, costs, and cost comparisons and outside vendors.
Ability to have intermediate computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Must be able to learn multiple specialized software and database systems.
Ability to multitask, be detail oriented, and handle multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
Must have effective organizing and planning skills.
Must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to deal with strict deadlines.
Must have the ability to learn, understand, express, apply, and demonstrate knowledge of relevant Florida State Statutes as well as agency policies and procedures.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to learn police radio using 10 codes and signals.
