Deputy Director for Educational Programming, Training, and Orientation
The Center for Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity ("CIEO" or the "Center") was established by the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor for the City University of New York ("CUNY" or the "University") in June 2024, as part of CUNYs ongoing efforts to combat discrimination and harassment, and CUNYs ongoing efforts to continuously foster understanding amongst our diverse community members. The Center is responsible for systemwide report management and compliance pertaining to discrimination and harassment, policy review, development, and implementation of all CUNY policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, regular and comprehensive training and orientation for administrators implementing CUNYs policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, systemwide educational programming addressing discrimination and harassment, and monitoring and analyzing discrimination and harassment data obtained from all 25 campuses in the CUNY system and from the central office.
The goal of the Center is to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the CUNY community, including discrimination and harassment that violates Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and associated federal, state, and local civil rights laws. The Center is seeking a Deputy Director for Educational Programming, Training, and Orientation to play a key leadership role in enhancing the cultural competencies of CUNY community members in furtherance of CUNYs efforts to eliminate discrimination and harassment within the CUNY community, coordinating the systemwide plan to provide regular and comprehensive programs and events fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive educational spaces that are free from discrimination and harassment, and assessing the effectiveness of CUNYs educational programming, trainings, and orientations addressing discrimination and harassment.
Reporting to the Centers Executive Director, the Deputy Director for Educational Programming, Training, and Orientation will provide centralized, regular, and comprehensive educational programming, training, and orientation that aligns with the content offered by the 25 campuses in the CUNY system and by the Central Office. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

Qualifications : Minimum : Bachelors degree and eight years related experience required. Preferred : Masters Degree, Juris Doctor, or other doctoral degree in a related field. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, laws, and guidelines including Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Clery Act, New York Education Law Article 129-A and 129-B, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504, state and local disability laws, and relevant CUNY policies and bylaws. A record of successful leadership in the equal employment opportunity (EEO) / compliance sector including implementation of educational and training programs designed to enhance inclusion and improve workplace climate and culture, preferably in a higher education setting. Experience developing programming and conducting trainings in equal opportunity and inclusive spaces. Self-directed results and detail orientation with the ability to use sound judgment and data in decision-making. Experience supervising and coaching staff - strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations, facilitate groups, and mediate the successful resolution of conflicts and complaints. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral / written communication skills. Excellent evaluative and research skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish plans, launch new initiatives, and manage multiple assignments with conflicting priorities and strict deadlines. Computer applications proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and PeopleSoft CUNY.
CUNY Title Overview : Oversees and provides leadership for The City University of New York (CUNY) Diversity Management and Compliance Programs. Oversees University-wide compliance with City, State, and Federal statutes and university policies covering AA / EEO, 504 / ADA, Pluralism and Diversity, and Sexual Harassment Prevention. Oversees governmental and University reporting obligations and compliance policies and procedures, including Affirmative Action Plans. Consults with CUNY campus and University units, guiding implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of employment, diversity, and compliance programs. Provides communications and training to assist campus personnel involved in Diversity Management. Promotes a respectful workplace that is free from discrimination. Performs related duties as assigned.
CUNY Title : Higher Education Officer FLSA Exempt
Compensation and Benefits : The salary range is $155,388 - $165,196, commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9 / 1 / 2025 and 3.5% effective 9 / 1 / 26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
