Job Summary and Qualifications

The Operating Engineer performs skilled work on building systems throughout the hospital. As a member of the Facilities Management team, you will have important contact with patients, visitors, and clinical staff every day. Your mechanical aptitude and knowledge of facility and plant operations are an opportunity to be a part of something bigger. Your commitment to service, safety, and professionalism will contribute to achieving the best experience for our patients.

What you will do in this role : perform routine maintenance and light repairs in areas including plumbing, medical gas, doors and hardware, electrical, nurse call and HVAC systems, operate building automation systems, ensure the operation of fixed plant equipment by performing daily building and equipment checks and recording status of equipment, respond to building system casualties and fire alarms and take immediate action to restore services, install and / or change out appliances and wall hangings, assist in controlling and maintaining the materials inventory.

What qualifications you will need : high school diploma or equivalent, hospital / commercial experience preferred, skill in the use of hand and power tools used in installations, repair and maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds, five or more years of experience preferred.
