MPU TECHNICIAN

Empower Solar is a full service, residential solar installer looking for experienced and driven individuals to join our ever-growing team! The MPU Technician is responsible for completing residential service panel upgrades in order to accommodate the solar back feed for a project. Additional duties include reviewing photos of upcoming jobs, coordinating with warehouse for material, and communicating project status and photos with Project Coordinator and Management.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum 3-year residential electrical experience.
  • Strong understanding of NEC codes.
  • Previous experience completing service upgrades.
  • Knowledge of residential solar.
  • Ability to tie in existing solar system to main panel.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds occasionally throughout the day.
  • Ability to work safely with heights on ladders and in confined areas.
  • Experience complying with OHSA safety requirements and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills :

  • Ability to complete work as scheduled.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to correctly and efficiently install residential main service panels and associated wiring.
  • Meet Utility (PGE, SCE) onsite for disconnect / reconnect.
  • Pass AHJ electrical inspection of completed service upgrade.
  • Strong work ethic, and excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with an attention to productivity, detail, and safety.
  • Skilled in the use of power and hand tools and provide training in the safe operation of power and hand tools to others.
  • Ability to repair stucco.

    • Responsibilities :

  • Completing residential service upgrades.
  • Reviewing photos of upcoming projects
  • Troubleshooting electrical or solar issues.
  • Collect data and photos during and at the end of each project.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with required training and fulfillment of assigned duties.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Complete projects within strict timeframes and allowed budgets.
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability.
