Lead Product Performance Consultant

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

The Role

As a valuable member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional payment solutions for our enterprise merchant offering through strategic partnerships. Key aspects of this role include :

  • Client Aptitude : You will have the opportunity to directly engage with global enterprise clients on an ongoing basis. Your expertise will support sales teams and provide valuable advice to successfully close deals with large enterprise merchants.
  • Connector : Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Product and Engineering, Finance, Support, Global Sales, Professional Services, and Account Management, you will leverage internal resources and external partnerships to drive business outcomes.
  • Global Reach : This is a global role that involves interacting with various teams and offices within PayPal, as well as engaging with our clients and partners worldwide. You will have the opportunity to foster strong relationships and contribute to the success of our organization on a global scale.
  • Distilling Complexity : As a key contributor, you will play a pivotal role in training and educating the organization on areas such as payments and the broader commerce ecosystem. Your ability to distill complex concepts into clear and actionable insights will be instrumental in empowering teams across the organization.
  • Evangelizing : In this role, you will serve as a thought leader for enterprise merchants. This includes engaging in merchant communication, participating in conferences, collaborating with partners, and hosting webinars. Your expertise and insights will contribute to industry-wide knowledge and best practices.

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

As part of this role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities and accountabilities :

  • Deep Vertical Focus : Define playbook and advocate for demand with product on vertical needs. Align on key deals that are priorities for the vertical leads. Bring strategic initiatives that are relevant to the verticals to the Sales Team. Execute on support related to client engagement / outreach for the vertical(s).
  • Drive Global Payment Processing Deals : Take ownership of ensuring successful sales and account expansion for payment processing deals on a global scale. Your expertise and strategic approach will contribute to the growth and success of our organization.
  • Payments Expertise for Strategic Initiatives : Serve as a payments expert for new strategic initiatives, including areas such as Local Payment Method expansion, Omnichannel experiences, and innovative ecommerce solutions. Your insights and guidance will shape the direction and success of these initiatives.
  • Influence Product Roadmap : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence the product roadmap of our Payments Platform. Your expertise will be vital in aligning the platform with the evolving needs of merchants, encompassing processing, payout, and multi-lateral requirements.
  • Consult and Articulate Value : Work closely with commercialization teams to consult on and influence the sales positioning of products. Your ability to articulate clear value propositions for merchants will be instrumental in driving adoption and success.
  • Partnership Development : Take an active role in developing partnerships to address the needs of new markets, platform solutions, and payment processing worldwide. By forging strategic alliances, you will contribute to fulfilling the requirements of our Payments Platform.
  • Navigate Compliance and Rules : Navigate complex compliance and rule frameworks related to enterprise merchants and marketplaces. By ensuring adherence to regulations, you will help PayPal maintain robust compliance practices as our global business scales.
  • Establish Thought Leadership : Position PayPal as a thought leader in enabling global payments for large enterprises and marketplaces. Through active engagement, industry insights, and thought leadership initiatives, you will strengthen our reputation in the market.
  • Strengthen Organizational Systems : Contribute to the improvement and "hardening" of systems employed by the broader organization. This involves areas such as regulations, compliance, legal frameworks, scheme rules, sales motions, and upselling. Your expertise will help optimize these systems and ensure their effectiveness.
  • By fulfilling these key responsibilities and accountabilities, you will play a critical role in driving the success and continued growth of PayPal's enterprise payment solutions.

    Skills, Experience and Education

    To excel in this role, the following skills, experience, and education are required :

  • Payments Industry Expertise : A minimum of 5 years of experience in the payments industry, particularly in large enterprise card and payment processing. Your deep understanding of the industry landscape and trends will contribute to your success in this role.
  • Business-to-Business Sales and Relationship Building : Demonstrated experience of 2-3 years in business-to-business sales, relationship building, and business development. Your ability to build strong partnerships and drive successful sales outcomes will be essential.
  • Partner Relationship Development : Proven track record in identifying, developing, and contracting partner relationships within an enterprise context. Your experience in forging strategic partnerships will be instrumental in meeting business objectives.
  • Enterprise Merchant and Marketplace Expertise : Hands-on experience working with the processing and payout needs of enterprise merchants and marketplaces. Your understanding of their unique requirements and challenges will enable you to provide effective solutions.
  • Regional Payments Experience : Strong payments experience within specific markets or regions such as EU, UK, EMEA, APAC, or LatAm is required. Your knowledge of regional payment dynamics and regulations will contribute to successful implementation strategies.
  • Effective Communication Skills : Adaptable and eloquent communicator with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at various levels, including product teams, engineering teams, and clients. Your communication skills will be essential in driving collaboration and aligning objectives.
  • B2B and Product Software Proficiency : Experience with B2B and product software tools, including but not limited to Powerpoint, Salesforce, Jira, and Sharepoint. Your proficiency in utilizing these tools will enhance your productivity and effectiveness in the role.
  • Education : A Bachelor's degree is required, while an advanced degree is preferred. Your educational background will provide you with a strong foundation for understanding complex business dynamics and strategy.
  • Preferred Buyer Experience : Previous experience as a buyer of payment processing services is preferred. Your firsthand understanding of the buyer's perspective will enable you to empathize with merchants and provide valuable insights.
