Alabama State University, College of Visual and Performing Arts, invites applications for a full time Graphic Design, Assistant/Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will Provide effective and competent classroom instruction in Visual Arts, with a specialization in Graphic Design.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide classroom instructions for Graphic Design, Typography, and Computer Graphics in accordance with academic standards
- Employ diverse instructional strategies that engage students with contemporary practices
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creative problem solving, and discussion
- Utilize the Canvas learning management systems
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and respond to student communications with 24-48 hours
- Advise students each semester
- Maintain an active studio practice and professional exhibition or creative record
- Participate in departmental, college, and institutional efforts related to retention, recruitment, continuous improvement, and accreditation
- Provide excellent service to the University and community
- Maintain office hours (minimum of 10 weekly per semester to cover a Monday thru Friday work week);
- Perform other duties as assigned
A Master's of Fine Arts (MFA) in Studio Art, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in graphic design or a closely related discipline, from an accredited institution. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level preferred.
It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faculty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
