Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose : The Academic Support Librarian for Health Sciences plays a valuable role in providing energy and initiative to the University of the Pacific Library's research support and learning services. Reporting to the Director of University Libraries, the person in this role collaborates with fellow librarians in delivering services to the University community. The position will develop curated collections, provide research expertise, and deliver educational services for the School of Health Sciences, the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and additional programs as needed on three campuses (Sacramento, San Francisco, and Stockton).

The Academic Support Librarian for Health Sciences contributes to learning-centered academic support programs, projects, and services that advance 21st-century information access and discovery while fostering scholarly communications, research management, and digital opportunities. The role is committed to examining and pursuing ways to address diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) within the library.

Essential Functions

• Develop and deliver a high-impact educational program that targets evidence-based research-intensive courses and scaffolds learning outcomes, in collaboration with health sciences faculty.
• Provide liaison support for assigned subject areas through library instruction sessions, research consultations, collection development, and related projects.
• Curate and manage the library's collection of owned, licensed, and open-source resources, ensuring alignment with the institution's needs and fostering resource discoverability and usage.
• Collaborate with fellow Academic Support Librarians and student-centered academic partners to support student success and retention through research consultations, library instruction, and information literacy services.
• Partner with instructional designers to integrate library resources and expertise into in-person and online education.
• Support digital scholarship and open access initiatives by guiding data management, digital humanities, institutional repository contributions, Scholarly Commons, and emerging trends.
• Contribute to campus information literacy goals and assessment, and school accreditation efforts.
• Participate in local, regional, national, or international organizations advancing library and information science in health fields.
• Serve on University and department committees, task forces, and teams; facilitate and partake in collaborative research with faculty, students, and librarians.
• Support and educate faculty, staff, and students with federally funded research.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements : Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand / wrist motion while using a computer. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Travel between campus locations (~10%) with base at Sacramento; valid driver’s license required. No visa sponsorship.

Work Environment

Work is primarily in an office setting with some evening and weekend work may be required. Position supports programs across Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco campuses.

Hiring Range

$66,560.00 - $83,799.30 per year. Offers consider scope, qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.
