We are currently seeking a Lead Technical Trainer / Writer for a full-time, direct hire opportunity in Yonkers, NY.
Primary Objective :
To lead Kawasaki's technical training efforts in the field and ensure all training programs and materials meet FRA standards and client requirements, while maintaining logistical oversight and instructional consistency across teams.
Essential Functions :
Lead training efforts in the fieldDraft training materials based on vendor data, draft manuals, and direct observationVerify compliance with all FRA training requirements, including 49 CFR 238.109Proofread and edit vendor documents to ensure completeness and accuracyAssign and clarify responsibilities when multiple instructors are used in a courseManage all logistics for training, including personnel, tools, and consumablesMonitor vendor and subcontractor quality during classroom instructionDeliver training classes covering familiarization, FRA regulations, subsystem integration, and interfaceServe as primary point-of-contact between, vendors, and the AuthorityDraft formal communications to, vendors, and the Authority as directedCoordinate training classes at Authority sites and ensure all documentation and equipment are availableCollaborate with Engineering Department to address technical questions from traineesEnsure timely delivery of all contract training deliverables to the AuthorityAssist in course curriculum design and scheduling for new contractsProvide written evaluations of courses and instructor performance after each sessionSupport the Manager and Assistant Manager of Training and Manuals in staff developmentEducation Requirements :
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) requiredFormal technical training (e.g., Military Electronic Courses) a plusQualifications :
Minimum of 5 years' experience delivering technical training; prior rail car industry experience strongly preferredFlexible and solutions-oriented approach to field-based problem solvingWillingness to travel at least 20% of the timeAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointExperience with Adobe FrameMaker and / or vector graphics tools (CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, or AutoCAD) is a plusWork Environment :
This role involves both office-based documentation and on-site fieldwork, including coordination with vendors and hands-on engagement with rail cars and training equipment. Candidates should be comfortable navigating both technical documentation and real-world application.
