Come help us design the next generation of data centers! As a Senior Electrical Engineer in our Mission Critical Facilities group, you will design the new, energy-efficient facilities focusing on data centers. You will prepare conceptual and detail design, technical specifications, installation details, permit / bidding services, and perform construction administration (CA) services such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFI’s, etc. You will be challenged as you lead your team to improve efficiencies in the industry. As the Senior Electrical Engineer in our Baltimore group, you will be responsible for leading the electrical projects for the mission critical team.
Responsibilities:
Lead teams of designers and engineers, and provide quality control of completed designs.
Prepare electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams
Prepare designs for power distribution, standby power systems (UPS & generators), lighting, lightning protection, operational and monitoring control systems, grounding, telecommunications, and fire alarm conceptual systems under senior direction
Document study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events
Provide technical leadership in client meetings
Acts as primary client contact
Investigates, advises and solves unusual design problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in novel ways
Conduct site visit surveys of buildings for the purposes of collecting design information related to electrical service, fire alarm, grounding and lightning protection as they relate to data center or telecommunications facilities
Prepare field information documentation of site visit surveys
Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with data center or telecommunications facilities construction document requirements
Provide field construction management support (inspections, punch list generation, and project close-out)
Adhere to corporate quality control and assurance processes for all electrical design work
Provide oversight and primary design expertise for "Buildings" related electrical engineering assignments and the electrical team's associated deliverables
Direct the work of electrical design teams consisting of Junior/Intermediate Engineers, EITs and Designers/support staff, and ensure the quality of the finished products
Manage projects to ensure schedule, quality, and budget goals are met
Solve complex design problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation
Responsible for certifying professional work on projects
MH projects span North America, so candidates should be willing to travel and work domestically and internationally up to 10%
Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison
Works with the Business Development Manager to develop proposals for the electrical engineering services provided by the team
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Master’s degree a plus
Registration in USA as a Professional Engineer,
RCDD certification, or on path to obtain the certification within two years desired
Minimum 6 years of experience with design of electrical power systems in the consulting engineering industry.
Experience designing data centers or other mission-critical facilities preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit with ability to effectively communicate design intent to CAD staff.
Understanding of short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies. Knowledge of EasyPower or SKM Power Tools a plus.
Ability to read and write specifications
Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills to succeed in customer-facing roles
Proven ability to work exceptionally well and efficiently in a team environment with a proven strong customer service commitment
