We are seeking a compassionate, highly qualified full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our Health and Wellness Clinic team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidate will have previous senior living clinic experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Perform general clinic medical assistant duties including, but not limited to the following : Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned. Collect variety of specimens as directed including urine, stool, and sputum.
- Assist with resident related needs within scope of qualifications and training as directed by the Physician, Health Services Administrator, nurse, or designee. Assist with venipuncture, perform basic laboratory testing, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sanitize medical instruments as needed.
- Accurately organize and maintain medical records in compliance with regulations, facility policy and procedures. Protect the confidentiality of resident, employee, and contractor healthcare information.
- Ensure laboratory and diagnostic testing records are kept current, and promptly obtain test results as needed.
- Maintain sufficient levels of applicable forms in an organized manner for the Clinic. Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked. Assist with reordering medical supplies as needed.
- Re-stock emergency bag in Clinic as required.
- Responsible for answering the Clinic phone, assisting callers, and promptly routing calls as needed in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in coordinating resident medical appointments and ensure all applicable documents are appropriately completed in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing clinical records for physician visits. Ensure all clinical documentation is scanned into the appropriate medical records.
- Respond to urgent calls as a member of the STAT Team, as assigned.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and unit meetings. Practice all safety, loss prevention, and infection control procedures. Provide timely delivery and pickup of clinic correspondence.
- Consistently demonstrate positive and cooperative employee relations when interacting with other employees, management, residents, resident family members, contractors, and visitors.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS :
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants.Current certification in Adult CPR and AED.Minimum of one (1) years of relevant clinical experience working with elderly individuals. Experience in the CCRC, Long term, or assisted living level of care industry or related field strongly preferred.Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care, medical terminology, medical records management, medical supplies, and equipment. Experience with clinical and diagnostic procedures, assessment, and documentation skills.Maintain universal precautions, routine handwashing, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to exposure control plans for bloodborne pathogen safety.Consistently uphold residents' rights, showing integrity and discretion when handling personal and health-related information.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written comprehension, and ability to follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.Demonstrated ability to interact with the elderly population, staff, families, and the management team in a respectful, compassionate, and patient manner, and consistently show flexibility, adaptability, and effective interpersonal skills.Excellent computer skills, previous experience with electronic medical records.Expected to report to work on time and work the fully established schedule. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions, as necessary.Must be able to sit, stand for extended periods of time, stationary positions at certain times during the workday, walk, move, ascend / descend stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach overhead, grasp with both hands, maintain balance and body equilibrium to prevent falls, fine manipulation, coordination, and repetitive motion.Able to frequently exert up to 50 lbs. (unassisted) and / or lift up to 25 lbs.
