Office Engineer – Terminal 2 (T2) Project | LAX
Location : Los Angeles International Airport
The Terminal 2 Office Engineer supports the T2 Project Manager and plays an important role in overseeing design and construction activities for the Terminal Development Improvement Program (TDIP). This position helps manage scope, schedule, coordination, and operational interfaces tied to all Terminal 2 work.
Position Summary
The Office Engineer handles a wide range of technical and administrative responsibilities, primarily focused on managing submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and construction management support. This role provides day-to-day assistance to the project management team, including the project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, and design manager.
Key Qualifications
- Technical or construction background with experience in active or operating environments
- Knowledge of design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
- Experience with the full project design life cycle : Concept, Project Definition Book, Permit, and Bulletins
- Experience with the construction life cycle : Pre-Construction, estimating / buyout, phasing, implementation, and closeout
- Ability to maintain strong working relationships with design and construction teams, supporting open communication and collaborative problem-solving
- Professionalism that contributes to strong team morale and positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Essential Duties
Assist the T2 project team with receiving, distributing, and maintaining submittalsHandle construction contract correspondence, document control, and plan controlInput data into PMWeb and prepare management information and status reports as neededUpdate and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs within PMWebMaintain project files and document / submittal management systems in both hard copy and electronic formatWork with contractors to ensure drawings are updated and posted accurately and promptlyDistribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review; track and compile review comments; obtain management approval; and issue responses to contractorsManage and manipulate electronic files in various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetingsAttend and document project meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutesPerform expediting functions and maintain expediting logsComplete additional responsibilities or provide support as assigned to assist the project teamSoftware & Technical Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office SuiteProficient with BluebeamExperience with project management implementation systems; PMWeb experience preferredProfessional Experience
At least five years of experience, preferably on airport projects or within airport environmentsExperience supporting Multiple Award Task Order ContractsStrong written and verbal communication skillsThorough knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulationsEducation & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, airport administration, or a related fieldOptional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or other relevant licenses or credentialsAdditional Requirements
