The RN will assume a leadership role in patient care and serve as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team, while upholding best practices in patient safety, documentation, and recovery protocols. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care using the full nursing process Manage recovery of surgical patients across varying acuity levels Assess and address patient and family educational needs Communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary team to promote optimal recovery outcomes Delegate appropriately and lead ancillary staff in PACU workflows Monitor, document, and intervene as needed during the immediate post-op period Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and uphold patient dignity in all interactions Maintain professional conduct and follow nursing scope of practice Requirements Active RN license in the state of Louisiana (or compact) Minimum 2 years of PACU or critical care experience BLS (AHA) – Required ACLS – Required PALS – Required Proficient with EMR documentation and clinical standards Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills Ability to lift, move, or support patients frequently Setting : Academic medical center PACU Physical Demands : Heavy work, frequent patient handling required Exposure Risk : Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential communicable diseases Environment includes direct patient contact and possible exposure to hazardous waste / materials Candidates must be comfortable working in high-acuity surgical recovery settings Professionalism, clinical accountability, and adaptability are essential This role is part of a teaching hospital with interdisciplinary involvement and evidence-based practice emphasis About IDR Healthcare IDR Healthcare is an awarding winning staffing firm that believes it is a privilege and awesome responsibility to serve those who selflessly care for others.
