Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong trauma and robotics experience for a hospital-based position in Alabama requiring an active AL or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital operating room setting with 15 OR beds, including 2 CVOR suites

Level II Trauma Center with minimal pediatric cases, primarily orthopedic

Patient care is 1 : 1 in the operating room

RN circulates only and covers a wide variety of cases including general, trauma (no burns), orthopedic (including total joints and spine), neuro, ENT, vascular (including endovascular), GYN, urology, plastics, breasts, and eyes

Experience with robotic surgeries, including Robotic Mazor and DaVinci XI, is preferred

Cerner EMR is used, with supporting technology including Plum 360 pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors

No floating required

On-call required : one weekday and one weekend per month with 30-minute response time

Weekend rotation includes on-call responsibilities

Expected to work at least one holiday per contract

Two-week orientation on day shift, including buddy call

Work alongside a supportive team including OR assistants, desk assistant, charge nurse, and service line team leaders

Two-week orientation provided with expectation for buddy call participation

Scrub attire is green and provided by the facility

Parking is available in a parking deck

On-site expectation for 30-minute call response time

Holiday coverage is required as part of the contract

Requirements

Active AL or compact RN license required

Minimum two years of recent operating room RN experience required

Strong competency in trauma (excluding burns), neuro, ortho (total joints and spine), general, vascular, ENT, GYN, urology, plastics, and robotic procedures

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

Experience circulating in all listed service lines required

Robotics experience preferred

Experience with Cerner EMR preferred

Will accept first-time travelers if all experience requirements are met

Previous permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler

Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
