About The Role
CoStar is seeking a Senior Commercial Rent Analyst, with a focus on commercial real estate (CRE) data analysis, data validation, and accuracy evaluation / tracking, to join our growing analytics organization. The Senior Commercial Rent Analyst will enhance commercial rent estimates by improving data quality, supporting the lease abstraction process, and driving accuracy in rent estimation models. This role will collaborate with research, product, and quantitative teams to streamline data collection systems and enhance data quality. Additionally, the analyst will lead product prototyping, benchmarking, and cloud migration efforts, advance space-level analytics, and deliver tools to improve the productivity and efficiency of the analyst team.
This is a full-time in-office position that will be based in our Richmond, VA office.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive dashboards to monitor and assess lease data, assess the accuracy of commercial rent estimates, and visualize rent / accuracy trends.
- Build and implement QA checks and feedback loops for research lease abstraction teams to improve data quality and refine the lease abstraction process.
- Collaborate with the Quantitative Analytics team for rent estimation model enhancement.
- Provide actionable feedback to the research team for better data quality and quantity with regards to rents and other CRE data points needed to support analytic content.
- Develop and implement systems for analysts input on rent estimations.
- Lead the development of product prototypes using real data to support benchmarking or other initiatives and ensure that new product features align with market expectations.
- Construct Power BI reports and commercial datasets to support the analytics team.
- Work with product and quantitative teams to utilize space-level analytics for more granular insights, incorporating into rent estimation models and reporting tools.
- Build and deliver new tools and capabilities to improve analyst team productivity and efficiency
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Real Estate, Statistics, Data Science / Analytics, Finance, or related discipline).3+ years of experience in data analysis, with exposure to commercial real estate data preferred.Highly proficient in SQL for querying and transforming large datasets, with experience in SQL Server Management Studio.Intermediate to Advanced Excel skillsSkilled in Power BI (or similar BI tool) for creating dashboards and reports.Applied experience with Microsoft Office 365 based data tools (including VBA) for data processing and analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Proactive and self-driven, consistently taking initiative to identify and implement improvements.A track record of commitment to prior employersPreferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master's, PhD) in statistics, data science, real estate, or related fieldKnowledge of commercial real estate concepts and metrics (e.g., effective rents, vacancy rate, absorption).Experience with rent analysis or working with forecast / valuation models.Familiarity with Python and / or R.Understanding of API calls and JSON is a plus.Hands on experience working with large, complex datasets across multiple sources.Strong communication skills, especially in presenting data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.What's In It For You :
