Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Distribution Operations, the Senior Manager of Distribution Operations provides strategic leadership for outbound operations and is responsible for delivering on service-level commitments and financial goals by shaping labor and capacity strategies, driving process innovation, and fostering a high-performance workforce. The Senior Manager will partner closely to ensure outbound distribution capabilities align with enterprise priorities, enable growth, and enhance customer experience. This leader will oversee both outbound fulfillment operations and the administrative order management team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all outbound processes. In addition, this leader will champion automation and continuous improvement initiatives, develop organizational talent, and provide executive-level visibility into distribution performance, risks, and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership : Define the vision for outbound operations, ensuring service, quality, and financial objectives are consistently achieved.
- Workforce & Talent Strategy : Own long-term workforce planning, including labor modeling, succession planning, and leadership development to build organizational bench strength.
- Capacity Planning : Develop scalable labor and capacity strategies for peak and non-peak periods, balancing workforce efficiency with customer and partner needs.
- Order Management Oversight : Provide strategic direction and oversight for the administrative order management team, ensuring accurate and timely execution of order uploads, WMS waving, routing, ASN transmissions, and other related activities that support outbound fulfillment.
- Financial Accountability : Manage the outbound operational and labor budgets and deliver cost-optimization initiatives while maintaining service excellence.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement : Drive automation, technology adoption, and process re-engineering to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Contingency Strategy : Develop proactive plans to address unplanned workload demands, ensuring service levels are maintained while controlling costs.
- Cross-Functional Partnership : Partner with senior leaders across supply chain, merchandising, finance, logistics, and retail to align outbound operations with enterprise goals and revenue growth strategies.
- Data-Driven Performance Management : Own and communicate outbound distribution performance metrics—including SLA achievement, labor productivity, cost-to-serve, and risk analysis—through a regular reporting cadence to senior leadership.
- Chargeback Management : Lead enterprise-wide chargeback management by analyzing trends, identifying root causes, and partnering with Finance, Sales, and Operations leadership to design and implement long-term prevention strategies that protect revenue and strengthen compliance
- Root-Cause Problem Solving : Apply root-cause analysis to systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions that strengthen operational resilience.
- Enterprise Alignment : Consolidate and prioritize revenue-driving and cost-saving opportunities, ensuring executive buy-in and timely execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven ability to set vision, lead through change, and influence at all levels of the organization.Experience managing budgets and cost-to-serve metrics with success in delivering operational efficiency gains.Deep understanding of outbound distribution, logistics, and supply chain drivers, connecting execution to business strategy.Demonstrated success leading teams through transformation, including process re-engineering, system upgrades, and automation initiatives.Skilled in succession planning, coaching, and building high-performing teams with strong bench strength.Ability to distill complex issues and risks into concise, actionable insights for senior leaders.Experience fostering strong cross-functional partnerships across merchandising, logistics, finance, and channel leadership.Expertise in leveraging data to forecast, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement strategies.Track record of embracing innovation, learning from challenges, and encouraging smart risk-taking.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field7+ years of operations and distribution management experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role managing large, multi-shift teams.Proven track record of leading outbound fulfillment operations at scale (preferably 100K+ sq. ft. facilities or multi-channel distribution environments).Demonstrated budget ownership and financial accountability, including cost optimization and efficiency improvements.Experience driving process automation, system implementation, and operational innovation in a distribution or supply chain environment.Strong proficiency with ERP, WMS, and enterprise-level systems, with ability to leverage technology for efficiency and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time management skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities.Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.Exceptional communication and executive presence, with proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to develop talent pipelines and succession strategies within large operational teams.Shared appreciation for Kendra Scott's values of Family, Fashion, and Philanthropy.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
