Director Business Development Position Overview Moss Utilities is seeking a visionary Director of Business Development to drive sustainable revenue growth and elevate our market presence.
Reporting directly to the President, this role is responsible for expanding our client base, leading strategic pursuit efforts, and positioning Moss as the preferred contractor for private development utility work.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of sales acumen, industry knowledge, and leadership ability.

Responsibilities Business Development Strategy Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy that targets private developers, general contractors, and key industry partners.
Build and maintain a healthy project pipeline and drive annual revenue growth targets.
Relationship Management Cultivate strong, long term relationships with existing clients and prospective partners.
Deepen account engagement through proactive communication, problem solving, and collaboration to support ongoing and future projects.
Lead Generation and Sales Source, qualify, and pursue high value project opportunities through networking, industry events, cold outreach, and digital channels.
Maintain visibility within organizations such as TEXO and ASA.
Market Analysis and Insights Monitor market activity, competitor capabilities, and development trends.
Provide regular insights and recommendations to support pricing strategies, resource planning, and new market entry.
Cross Functional Collaboration Coordinate with operations, estimating, and leadership teams to align business development efforts with capacity and project priorities.
Support RFP responses, bid strategies, and project kickoff meetings.
Performance Metrics and Reporting Track KPIs including pipeline volume, hit rate, proposal activity, and client acquisition.
Prepare weekly and monthly updates for the President and leadership team.
Representation and Networking Represent Moss Utilities at conferences, association events, trade shows, and community initiatives.
Strengthen brand awareness and thought leadership through speaking engagements and content contributions.
Team Leadership Mentor junior business development and marketing staff as the team grows.
Promote a high performance, customer focused culture.
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of business development or project experience in construction, engineering, utilities, or private land development.
Prior experience with developers or general contractors is highly preferred.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building abilities.
Comfortable engaging C suite leaders, engineers, and field operations.
Analytical mindset with the ability to review pricing models, market data, and financial indicators.
Proficiency in CRM systems and pipeline management tools.
Strategic thinker with the ability to execute.
