Responsibilities Work in the OB unit of a hospital with a Level III Nursery and LDRP model of care Patient population includes low-risk laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns, with high-risk cases transferred out Care includes laboring patients, postpartum mothers, well babies, post-partum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and occasional Med / Surg overflow Typical ratios are 1 : 2 for laboring, 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 3-4 for couplets, and 1 : 2-3 for Med / Surg patients based on AWHONN guidelines Night shift from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday required Uses Cerner charting system Floating may be required to Med / Surg or ED for tasks only Responsible for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and couplet care in an LDRP setting No dedicated nursery; nurses are responsible for care of well babies on the unit Procedural scrubs provided for OR; professional scrubs of any color allowed otherwise Unit support includes at least two nurses per night, midwife, OB on call, charge nurse, HUC (part time), RT and hospitalist available 24 / 7, no CNAs General hospital and one shift unit orientation provided Must have flu vaccination for clearance; only medical exemptions allowed with pre-approval Free parking is available on site Travel pairs are not accepted for this position Requirements Active ME or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years recent L&D experience; first-time travelers must have 3 years recent L&D experience Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required STABLE certification required within 30 days of start Proficient in all phases of Labor and Postpartum care including care of newborns and LDRP model Experience with shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous, intrathecal spinal analgesia, and basic neonatal care Not eligible if previously employed in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health Hospital Must reside at least 100 miles South / Southwest of Bangor, ME Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629723.
