Job description

The University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education (MCE) invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Admissions. MCE's vision is to train global leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to advance learning throughout the lifespan, educational change, and social equity. Our programs prepare ethical, collaborative practitioners who can apply principles to promote learning and development with a variety of clients, communities, and information systems. We are looking for a candidate who can lead efforts to promote MCE and recruit quality graduate level students to our programs. This is a full-time, benefitted position.

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Admissions in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE) focuses on practices and processes intended to recruit, enroll, and support the student body throughout the enrollment funnel for programs in MCE. In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Marketing the position provides knowledge of best practices in creating and implementing enrollment management strategies. The Associate Director is responsible for understanding and interpreting various types of data trends for both on-campus and online programs to create market-responsive strategies and to track closely the effectiveness of those strategies. The Associate Director reviews processes, strategies, and tactics related to recruitment and application movement, and makes recommendations on best practices. The Associate Director uses a wide degree of creativity and latitude to design, implement, and manage e-communication campaigns throughout the admission funnel and measure and analyze the effectiveness of various communication tactics. The position ensures that prospective students receive excellent admissions support from the point of first contact through matriculation, ensuring that connections are made to the appropriate departments, and working with departments to implement best practices in enrollment practices with prospective students. They maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues in MCE departments and with the University Office of Graduate Education and other areas across campus. The Associate Director also takes on other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Marketing.

Essential Functions

In addition to following the University of Denver's policies and procedures, primary duties for the Associate Director include :

Admissions and Recruitment Management

  • Manage the recruitment, application review and enrollment process for MCE programs.
  • Develop and implement full e-communication campaigns spanning the entire admissions funnel from inquiry to matriculation for each graduate program and for MCE.
  • In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Marketing, the Office of Budget and Planning and the Department Chairs develop enrollment projections, policies and protocols.
  • Ensure effective advising and correspondence with MCE applicants in all departments and / or route queries to the appropriate MCE admissions staff member.
  • Manage annual college admissions requirements update process.
  • Manage and participate in recruitment events and enrollment activities.
  • Advise on university admissions policies and procedures.
  • Guide and strategically plan the allocation of resources to attract and retain an applicant pool.
  • Serve as project manager for recruitment projects across the college, such as the creation of recruitment collateral, strategic content creation and refreshes, applicant and incoming student communications, and other recruitment / yield initiatives.
  • Serve as main point of contact and college expert for MCE faculty and staff regarding training, permissions, and reporting within the CRM system (Slate).
  • Represent MCE to various constituencies on campus, including members of the 2U partnership and the Office of Graduate Education.
  • Collaborate on the financial aid and scholarship process.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Understand past and present enrollment trends to discover patterns and effectively inform initiatives to respond to these trends.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for other offices regarding CRM processes and development.
  • Contribute to campus-wide Slate Users Group and ensure training and access for faculty and staff in MCE.
  • Strategy

  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvements as needed.
  • Provide input and share ideas to identify and expand recruiting opportunities.
  • Work with departments to implement best practices to track correspondence and measure outcomes.
  • Acquire knowledge of industry practices and standards and gather information as needed to evaluate and recommend new ways to attract / retain prospects.
  • Understand target audiences to assist in effective development of recruitment initiatives.
  • Management

  • Supervise two full-time members of the admissions staff and possibly a Graduate Assistant.
  • Interview, hire, train, assign and review work, develop performance goals and assess performance for direct reports.
  • Provide direction and clarification, respond to questions, and inquiries from direct reports.
  • Ensure that direct reports are prepared to communicate with prospective students with success and excellent customer service.
  • Manage and approve work schedules to ensure proper coverage for daily tasks and projects for members of the admissions staff.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Slate CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, and other common databases and CRM systems
  • Ability to anticipate problems and use good judgment in developing solutions.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships, collaborate effectively with others, and establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • An eye for design and the ability to think creatively.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining professionalism, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a variety of populations, displaying high cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4-5 years of experience in higher education, admissions, student affairs, or other areas of education or non-profits
  • Admissions experience in a college / university or equivalent setting
  • Experience working with Slate or similar CRM
  • Experience and commitment to working in, or with, a variety of populations
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or graduate course work
  • Background / education in P-20 education or other social sciences fields.
  • Familiarity with degree programs offered in MCE
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of current best practices in graduate enrollment management, particularly in the fields represented in the programs of MCE
  • Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office / campus.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. This position is eligible for one (1) day of remote work.

    Salary Grade Number :

    The salary grade for the position is 11.

    Salary Range :

    The salary range for this position is $68,000-$78,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
