Job Summary :
The Support Engineer (Electrical) provides technical expertise and engineering support for complex electrical systems and equipment. This role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, performing risk assessments, and supporting the development and implementation of new electrical strategies, standards, and solutions. The engineer will contribute to projects that ensure system reliability, safety, and performance for one of California’s leading utilities.
Key Responsibilities :
Resolve technical and engineering issues efficiently and cost-effectively using available tools and resources.
Lead and coordinate engineering team activities related to new technologies, standards, and system upgrades.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safe and reliable project outcomes.
Provide technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex cross-functional engineering challenges.
Ensure engineering facility design documentation and design basis are properly maintained and controlled.
Conduct engineering studies and coordinate high-impact, large-scale projects with full technical responsibility.
Required Experience & Education :
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering or related discipline required).
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience with control panel layout, wiring, and component mounting (DIN rail, relays, terminal blocks, etc.).
Skilled in safe use of hand and power tools for electrical assembly and repair.
Familiarity with instrumentation and data logging equipment.
Knowledge of automation or control software (LabVIEW, Ovation, etc.).
Basic understanding of networking fundamentals related to control systems.
Desired Skills / Attributes :
Experience with energy storage, generators, or microgrids.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (CA) a plus, but not required.
