ResponsibilitiesWeatherford is hiring a Shop Technician for our West Greens Road facility in Houston. The Shop Technician will be working within a supportive, inclusive team in a fast-paced, progressive environment.
The Shop Technician will provide hands-on technical support for the assembly and repair of drilling tools. The primary responsibility of the Shop Technician is to troubleshoot, implement mandatory modifications or preventative / corrective maintenance, assemble and test field equipment tools.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesSAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCEMaintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with Company’s Security, Compliance & HSE policies, Management System, relevant laws, regulations, standards and industry practices and complies with the Company’s Rules to Live ByPlaces Quality, Health & Safety, Security and protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers or the communities in which we live and work at riskSeeks continual improvement in Health, Safety, Security & protection of the Environment, taking into account responsible care, process vulnerabilities, public, customer and employee inputs, knowledge and technology and best business practices to exceed customer expectationsQUALITYResponsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management SystemMaintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvementOPERATIONSAssemble / disassemble product line tools as per procedure or Technical Work Instruction in accordance with Quality standardsTroubleshoot and diagnose issues with the toolsImplement mandatory modifications and / or preventive and corrective maintenance of the tools / assetsConduct testing of tools / assets to ensure integrity of assembliesMonitor, record, source and re-order day to day spares and consumables associated with the running of the plantPrioritize workload according to the planned production scheduleOpen crates and sort and place materials on racks / shelves / in bins as requiredPrepare tools for shipment and convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage / other designated area by hand, forklift, or other means as required and in accordance with operator trainingRecord operational hours on tools / assets in work order systemMonitor and source spares and consumable levels to keep the plant operational and cost effectiveLiaise with the production / shop supervisors and leads, engineering, and other support functions as required, communicating maintenance issues and requirementsMaintain daily workshop housekeepingSuccessfully complete training plan and competency standards as set out in the position within company guidelinesMaintain a consistent level of production quality by adhering to manufacturing procedures and work instructions developing corrective action that may reduce ineffective and inefficient operationPerform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the jobUnderstand and follow maintenance and repair procedures / documentation for applicable products and equipment and complete all relevant documentationRequired to be available for any approved overtime outside of normal work scheduleRequired to be available on call for any urgent needsCOMMUNICATIONMaintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate externalFINANCIALAll employees have an accountability to the organisation to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expensesCosts incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedurePEOPLE & DEVELOPMENTEmployees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance & business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experienceEmployees should engage on a regular basis with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potentialVISION & LEADERSHIPDemontrates leadership, ethical behavior and adherence to Weatherford standards at all timesQualificationsExperience & EducationREQUIRED3+ years related experience in manufacturing / repair and maintenance environmentHigh school diploma or equivalentPREFERRED2+ years experience in related product line (MPD or BOP preferred)Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesREQUIREDBasic computer skillsBasic operational knowledge of crane, forklift and materials handling equipmentGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work well with team members as well as individuallyExcellent organizational skillsMust be able to follow instructionsAbility to lift up to 40 poundsPREFERREDPossess knowledge of workshop tools utilized by facilityIPC certificationTravel Requirement : This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to :
