Job Title
Responsible civilian position performing an assortment of technical and sensitive nature work involving the investigation and verification of employment application and personal history information along with performing technical work that involves planning, directing, and overseeing the goals of the Police Department. The position reports directly to the Training Commander.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts thorough and intensive background investigations on all applicants being considered for employment to include part-time and volunteer applicants.
Utilizes independent judgment and individual initiative in the interpretation of orders, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and mandates.
Performs notification, reporting, documentation, evaluation, comparison interpretation, consultation, interviewing and research.
Schedules all testing for open vacancies throughout the department.
Schedules psychological interviews with the Department's psychologist.
Schedules physical examinations with the department's provider.
Member of the oral board for most vacancies.
Thoroughly understand current state and federal laws governing the hiring and selection of employees.
Knowledgeable of Florida State Statutes, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC) standards.
Recommend qualified applicants to the Chief of Police and Human Resources via an Executive Summary Report outlining the applicant's test, interview, and investigation results.
Maintain and demonstrate congenial, respectful, and professional behaviors and attitudes with the public, coworkers, and test vendors.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional requirements include balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Position requires the operation of a City vehicle. Work is normally performed in an office environment, but frequent driving may be required.

Emergency Response Responsibility
Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
