Assistant Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an innovative, results-driven, and proactive professional to join our team as an Assistant Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for learning and placing into practice the skills needed to become a Maintenance Manager. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will assist the Maintenance Manager in the daily operations of the Maintenance Facility. To include oversee of the Preventative Maintenance Program aimed at reducing vehicle breakdowns, minimizing major repairs, and extending the lifespan of fleet assets.

The Assistant Maintenance Manager will learn the minimum responsibilities below :

• Shift 1pm - 10pm
• Assist in maintaining the annual maintenance budget in alignment with Company guidelines.
• Lead safety meetings, enforce compliance with safety protocols.
• Assist in recommending capital expenditures and develop business cases for vehicle, equipment, and tool replacements.
• Monitor and control maintenance-related expenditures, including tires, parts, repairs, and outsourced services for specialized diagnostics.
• Oversee work assignments, scheduling, preventative maintenance (PM), and repairs, ensuring efficient shop operations.
• Monitor labor costs and parts usage by type of repair to achieve appropriate labor costs (standard repair times) and parts usage.
• Maintain PM schedule, ensuring timely assignments and up-to-date inspections to prevent roadside breakdowns and regulatory issues.
• Perform Quality Control Inspections on repairs.
• Understand parts inventory, ensuring adequate supply levels while avoiding shortages.
• Understand the GEOTAB Program and related repairs.
• Audit safety programs and inspect the facility (e.g., lock outs, exit lights, extinguishers).
• Assist in training and managing mechanics and welders, ensuring a skilled workforce capable of accurate diagnostics and high-quality repairs.
• Assist in providing coaching and leadership to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Assist in employee relations matters, including performance management, discipline, and grievance resolution.
