Position Summary
The Maintenance Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, tools, and equipment required for facility maintenance and operations. This role works closely with the Maintenance, Production, and Procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of supplies and services that keep plant operations running efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have experience purchasing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies, mechanical components, and equipment for industrial environments. This position requires strong communication, organization, and vendor management skills to support the reliability and uptime of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase materials, parts, and services for maintenance operations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, vendor information, and pricing.
- Request and evaluate quotes to ensure competitive pricing and vendor reliability.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to understand needs and priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder as necessary to avoid downtime.
- Track orders and follow up with suppliers on delivery schedules and discrepancies.
- Ensure all purchasing follows company policies and budget guidelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and assist in vendor evaluation.
- Support maintenance projects by ensuring timely availability of required materials.
- Assist in maintaining safety stock and critical spares inventory for equipment reliability.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to align purchasing with maintenance schedules and production goals.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of High School Diploma; College coursework or degree preferred.3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in maintenance, MRO, or manufacturing environments.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; Google Suite experience a plus.Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, calculator, copier, etc.).Basic understanding of industrial maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.Commitment to safety and compliance in an industrial facility.Benefits
