Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Intern will provide marketing support for UNM Career Services, to promote our programs, events, and resources, and to build and support a cohesive professional brand image for Career Services.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Design and create posters, brochures, fliers, and other promotional materials.
•Develop cohesive social media content that aligns with UNM brand guidelines.
•Write and edit original, quality copy for digital and print marketing materials, website, etc.
•Contribute to the development of a strategic marketing plan to reach goals, forecast marketing needs, and develop realistic deadlines.
•Design and update presentations to enhance training/educational outcomes; may also give presentations.
•Design and produce website content and graphics; may contribute to layout design.
•Film and edit videos for social media and website.
•Produce photographic elements to promote Career Services’ events and resources through storytelling.
•Maintain data metrics to track engagement and contribute to creating periodic reports summarizing data.
•Regularly communicate with and work collaboratively with other student employees, Career Services staff, UNM staff and faculty, and community partners.
•Other relevant projects as assigned.
Career Services is open from 8 am – 5 pm. The successful candidate can expect to work 15-20 hours per week in Fall 2025, with the possibility to continue in Spring 2026.

Preferred skills and experience:
•Experience managing social media accounts for a department/organization.
•A creative eye and aptitude for creating high-quality graphic content.
•Strong writing skills with the ability to produce both persuasive and objective content.
•A knack for digesting complex and/or large amounts of information and making it simple to understand.
•Knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of marketing.
•Video creation and editing skills suitable for social media.
•Photography skills, and some photo editing abilities.
•Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
•A desire to learn and grow one’s skillset.
•The ability to accurately assess project requirements and anticipate and report issues impacting project completion.
•Skills in the utilization of design and editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Canva, Apple graphic design, etc.
•Familiarity with basic data tracking and reporting using Microsoft Excel, Google Analytics, etc.
