Description

Principal Duty

The ResidentAutomation Technician II supports our customer on all automation-related topics. This position requires a broad-based electrical and mechanical skillset along with a proactive approach to identifying ways to improve the site's performance through troubleshooting and hands-on repair.

Based at our customer site, the Resident Automation Technician II must represent the TGW image and ensure a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.

This position is based in Columbus, Ohio.

Standardized Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible.
  • Complete work assignments and the associated work orders as assigned.
  • Complete maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment on-site, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
  • Adhere to the highest quality standards, while always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Optimize automation efficiency and performance to ensure delivery of contracted KPIs. Interface with the customer as needed to support operations.
  • Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements Profile

  • High school diploma required. Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing / distribution, manufacturing, or related environments.
  • Familiarity with HMI (human machine interface) and / or SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition interface) experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Previous experience in electromechanical troubleshooting and repair of material-handling conveyors, AS / RS, and shuttle systems, preferred.
  • Profibus and Profinet experience preferred.

  • While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines
  • Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
  • Exposed to moving and / or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols
  • Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand
  • Must be able to understand the speech of others
  • Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
  • Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
  • Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came
  • Must be able to use critical PPE correctly
  • Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region
