Job Title : MRI TechnologistJob Specialty : MRI TechnologyJob Duration : Not specifiedShift : NightGuaranteed Hours : 40.00Experience : Not specifiedLicense : ARRT (MR)Certifications : BLS (AHA or ARC)Must-Have : Experience with Siemens 3T, GE 1.5T, and EPICJob Description : - Perform procedures in line with departmental protocols and standards.- Operate MRI scanners and associated equipment with proficiency, including scanner, post-processing stations / programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and monitoring equipment.- Examine requests and verify orders for assigned patients, consulting with the Radiologist for any discrepancies.- Properly identify patients using two identifiers and assist them by explaining procedures clearly.- Prepare patients for procedures, provide full explanations, and document appropriately.- Interview patients to gather a complete medical history and review EMRs for pertinent clinical information.- Correlate test results and laboratory data with exams being performed.- Assume responsibility for exams from initiation until results are completed.- Prepare and administer IV contrast according to protocols, documenting type and amount as needed.- Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist when necessary.- Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images or measurements as instructed.- Perform basic patient care functions and inform appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in a patient’s condition.- Initiate life support measures and assist in emergency procedures as needed.- Practice sterile techniques and follow safety protocols during procedures.- Obtain medication or contrast material as directed by a licensed practitioner.- Adhere to radiation safety standards to protect self, employees, patients, and family members.- Report malfunctioning equipment and maintain safety procedures.- Operate radiology computer systems, enter orders, and document procedures and supplies.- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.- Cooperate with other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with MRI scans.- Stay informed of all MRI safety requirements for staff and patients around magnetic fields.
