The Office of Party Affairs and Delegate Selection facilitates the Party’s presidential nominating process, which includes supervising the process for selecting delegates to the 2024 National Convention and coordinating the work of the National Convention standing committees on Credentials, Platform, and Rules, and managing other institutional affairs of the Democratic Party, including staffing the four standing committees of the DNC and maintaining the Party’s Charter and Bylaws.

This position supports the Director in managing the Office, as well as independently oversees tasks and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Coordinating National Convention standing committees and related operations
  • Helping staff the four standing committees of the DNC, including scripts, reports, talking points, and materials
  • Overseeing the logistics and management of the Leadership Department
  • Managing and drafting scripts and materials for DNC and Executive Committee Meetings
  • Serving as an in-house resource on the Party’s Charter and Bylaws as well as bylaws of the DNC’s Caucuses and Councils, including audits and updates
  • Supporting State Parties by providing guidance during the drafting and implementation of their delegate selection plans
  • Hiring, training, and supervising the department’s interns
  • Coordinating with other departments and staff within the DNC
  • Executing other administrative operations
  • Maintaining and updating the governance framework
  • Establishing and maintaining a record of operational procedures manuals
  • Travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES DURING A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CYCLE :

  • Coordinating the review of state Delegate Selection Plans and assisting State Parties with the writing and implementation of their Delegate Selection Plan
  • Preparing, producing and distributing information, documentation, and procedural analysis of the Delegate Selection Process for the Rules and Bylaws Committee, State Parties, presidential campaigns and the general public
  • Conducting informative trainings on the Delegate Selection Process to internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Proven success in managing projects and individuals
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • A work ethic that is detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Interest in and understanding of Democratic Party rules and procedures
  • Aptitude for analyzing information and drawing conclusions
  • Experience with public speaking and parliamentary procedure is a plus
  • Experience in corporate governance preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge about the Democratic Party, State Party operations, the delegate selection process, and general Democratic Party history is preferred
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office based programs; and experience with FileMaker or other database programs are useful

The Deputy Director position will require travel, which could be up to 30% of the time.The starting salary for the Deputy Director position is $95,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
