Position Title : Truck Care General Manager

Reports To : General Manager

Supervisory Role : Yes

Department : Operations

Job Status : Exempt, Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION :

Truck Care General Managers are responsible for providing exceptional training, creating a safe work environment, obtaining financial objectives, and ensure our Travel Centers are well maintained through proper facility maintenance routines. Truck Care General Managers oversee and provide

direction to all positions in the truck care facility. A Truck Care General Manager will ensure our customer needs are met through light mechanical work, proper road call procedures, oil changes, and tire services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Provide exceptional customer service and verify that all employees of the location are doing the same.
  • Recognize and resolve customer issues or complaints by determining optimal solutions in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage employee turnover and retention. Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and coach employees.
  • Make personnel changes as necessary.
  • Ensure all new team members are following 45-day training and inputting new employee data in Talent
  • Stop immediately upon hire.
  • Utilize the Talent Stop computer based training and other necessary training tools to verify that training is complete and consistent.
  • Address employee issues in an appropriate and timely manner. Utilize the progressive discipline policy to manage employee issues. Collaborate with the local District Manager as necessary to manage employee issues.
  • Oversee labor management and effective scheduling.
  • Delegate tasks as needed and follow-up with employees to ensure that tasks are being completed.
  • Responsible for checking task lists throughout the day and ensuring all tasks lists in truck care are completed.
  • Accurately invoicing and processing payment for services performed.
  • Ensure all write ups are complete for services provided by team members.
  • Operate a company vehicle to perform roadside tire and mechanical repairs.
  • Keep the truck care and travel center facilities clean, organized, and secure.
  • Update HAZCOM Manual and Safety Data sheets.
  • Maintain personal grooming standards.
  • Maintain a safe facility and use safety first practices to remain accident-free.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

Education :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience :

  • 2+ Years’ in tire, auto parts / repair, lube express, or facilities maintenance.
  • 2+ Years’ supervising and training 5-1 employees.
  • 2+ Years’ effecting and deciphering budgets and P&L statements.
  • Requirements :

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a clean and consistent record of safety.
  • SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    Skills :

  • Hard Skills : Ability to learn and perform light mechanical diesel repairs, basic housekeeping tasks, repair and maintenance procedures, knowledge of electrical breakers, scissor lift operation, and safety glasses / vest usage.
  • Soft Skills : Good verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, organization skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency, and strong work ethic.
  • Typical Physical Demands :

  • Regularly required to talk and hear at a normal range.
  • Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • Frequently lift and / or move items over 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor elements in all seasons. Occasionally, the employee will also be exposed to fumes and particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and can be loud at times. While performing the duties, the employee is frequently exposed to dirt, dust, grime, grease, oil, gas, high-concentrated cleaning solutions, and human waste.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : Travel maybe required for this position.
