JOB SUMMARY :
Under immediate supervision, provides primary care of routine husbandry and sanitation for medical education and research animals; assists with or performs technical procedures to maintain lab animal health, departmental facility accreditation, and research integrity.
The animal population this role primarily cares for is zebrafish.
This position is being funded by a grant and / or designated source and therefore continuation in the position is contingent upon funding availability.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

Animal handling and general knowledge of species-specific behavior

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
Ability to operate automated watering systems, cagewasher and autoclaves
Ability and willingness to wear protective clothing or equipment as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent and Associates degree; supplemented with one (1) year of related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification preferred.
Veterinary technician certification (e.g. AHT, CVT, RVT).
Bachelor's degree in biology or neuroscience or a related field.
Work Schedule Expectations : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and select weekends and holidays as needed
