Job description
Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Supervise and manage the Reading Lab.
Work 40 hours per week and/or work in lab and carry a 40% teaching load. Assist in development maintenance of operational budget.
Work with students of diverse backgrounds.
Maintain regular office hours.
Evaluate students and assign grades.
Engage in assessment of student learning.
Summer assignment will depend on budget and instructional needs. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of reading and writing workshop learning environments. Knowledge of content area reading and writing strategies. Ability to establish rapport with students and motivate student learning. Knowledge of current technology in instructional settings. Excellent human relations and communication skills. Knowledge of developmental education state standards. Excellent communication skills. Evidence of harmonious working relationship with colleagues. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Reading or related field. Teaching and one-to-one tutoring experience with traditional students. Experience with Microsoft Office applications and their use as instructional tools in the classroom. Experience with audio/visual technological equipment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in English or Reading.
Full-time teaching experience in high school or post secondary reading. Experience with learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas). Expertise in current and innovative and instructional methodologies including experiential, collaborative and cooperative learning. Job Duties Job Duty Train and schedule part-time reading lab staff. Job Duty Keep record of lab attendance. Job Duty Demonstrate equipment and software programs. Job Duty Maintain records of equipment and instructional material usage.
Report equipment nearing repair. Job Duty Work with Reading faculty to create instructional materials. Job Duty Distribute discipline assessments and record assessment data in WEAVE.
Assist with purchase of supplies, instructional materials, software, and equipment. Job Duty Maintain Reading web page.
Conduct workshops for struggling reading and writing students. Job Duty Perform other related duties as assigned.
