Position Summary

Extra Help Vascular Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high?frequency ultrasound waves to produce images of the vascular system. They primarily scan arterial and venous blood vessels.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs the technical aspects of all arterial and venous studies on hospital and clinical patients.
• Positions patients for scans; sets up and adjusts equipment for each scan.
• Prepares supplies, instruments and equipment and assists physicians during related procedures.
• Selects and adjusts equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit and print optimal images.
• Confers with physician to determine if additional images or information is required.
• Assures the completion of patient records, preliminary report documentation and patient charges.
• Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patients and same?day add?on patients.
• Cleans and disinfects transducers according to manufacturer recommendations and established infection?control standards.
• Maintains adequate supplies in vascular ultrasound rooms and informs the manager when supplies are depleted.
• Provides technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
