Job description

Role : Product Engineer

Location : New York City, NY (preferred) | Full-time | On-site or Remote (US time zones)

Compensation : $100k - $250k + Equity (competitive)

About the Role

This is your opportunity to join an early-stage, Y Combinator-backed edtech startup bringing AI to K-12 classrooms. We're looking for a versatile product engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about building tools that directly impact teachers and students. As a key early hire, you will play a foundational role in shaping product architecture, shipping features, and defining engineering best practices. If you love ownership, care about user experience, and want to see your work used in real classrooms, this is the role for you.

What You Will Do

  • Build & Ship Fast - Design, develop, and deploy full-stack applications that power classroom AI tools.
  • End-to-End Ownership - Own features across the stack, from database to UI to AI infrastructure.
  • Classroom-Centric Development - Focus on product usability and the impact of features in real teaching environments.
  • Influence Product & Culture - Contribute to technical decisions, product quality, and team culture.
  • Rapid Iteration - Collaborate closely with a tight-knit team to iterate fast and deliver value to teachers and students.

What Will You Bring

  • Strong experience in full-stack development , ideally 2+ years in high-growth or startup environments.
  • Expertise in TypeScript, Next.js, PostgreSQL , and familiarity with AI coding assistants.
  • Ability to ship production-ready code quickly while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Passion for education, AI, and user-focused product development .
  • Comfortable working in US time zones , flexible on location (NYC preferred).
