Overview

The Senior Full Stack Application Developer leads and oversees the design and development of custom software applications and requires a strong understanding of healthcare business, technologies, and cloud infrastructure. Collaborating with application developers, IS security, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders, the senior developer designs and develops solutions that meet security and compliance requirements, ranging from on-premise to cloud implementations. The senior developer balances project aspects like safety, functionality, user experience, extendibility, portability, interoperability, and budget.

The senior developer researches and promotes new technologies and industry best practices, facilitating changes to maximize value and minimize effort. Responsibilities include developing and enforcing best practices for the entire application development process, from requirements documentation to maintenance and decommission, with a focus on cloud application development and infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership, guidance, and direction to Information Services management, staff, and business leaders. Additionally, the senior developer assists the Design + Technology Manager in mentoring developers and growing the project portfolio in alignment with strategic directions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand research project or clinical innovation project needs and goals, brainstorm solutions, provide effort estimates and overcome challenges throughout project lifespan.
• Understands key existing enterprise systems/applications and how to interface with them when applicable, as well as what’s available in the market to avoid unnecessary work
• Lead the design, development, optimization, and management of custom applications that leverage existing functionalities, infrastructure, and data flow, such as Epic Integration and My Children’s app integration
• Helps establish best practice guidelines for developing secure and compliant software while maximizing code reusability, extensibility, portability by using device/OS agnostic approaches, following best practice, and ensuring interoperability with NCH systems whenever applicable
• Lead the development of best practices on technical design/development/testing documentations including diagrams of system characterization, data flow, major components, interfaces, and other key information in details
• Provide guidance, mentorship and training to junior developers on appropriate development tools, cloud service modules, interface solutions, and other components needed for a solution; Assist them with pair programming and debugging, troubleshooting, and testing etc.
• Keep up with current technology offerings and advancement trends, as well as keeping team members and leadership informed
• Assists leadership in development of strategic plan and its execution, making purchases,
  or engaging 3rd party services
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent experience,
  required. Master's Degree or PhD, preferred.
• Five years of combined experience in system or application programming, cloud app
  development, and application architecture, required.
• Two years of experience in hospital information systems, preferred.
• Experience supporting clinical research preferred
• Required Technical Proficiency in:variety of AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3, Amplify, etc.)Azure and relevant resources (Cosmos DB, Function App, Entra ID, Logic Apps,
  Static Web Apps, etc.)mobile application development for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) and crossplatform
  frameworks (i.e. React Native)frontend technologies (i.e. React)backend languages (Node.js, Java, etc.)API development and integrationversion control systems (i.e. GitHub)CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy/CodePipeline, etc.)Identity Access Management (IAM), encryption protocols, and ensuring secure
  communication between client and server
• Highly desired Experience:
  Chatbot integration and deploymentIntegration of smart watch, IOT, voice assistant skill builder/designerLinux server managementfamiliarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like EpicUnderstanding of modern technology stack, cloud environments, and ability to adapt to
