Verdantas is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer II . This position will be located in Long Island, New York.

Responsibilities :

  • Conducting field activities including collecting samples of various environmental media (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and air)
  • Performing complex field tasks, including data measurement and collection, operation, and maintenance of remediation systems, troubleshooting, and construction observation
  • Participating in environmental investigation programs including Phase l / ll Environmental Site Assessments
  • Evaluating environmental regulations
  • Preparing environmental reports including data compilation, reduction, and interpretation
  • Preparing and reviewing field notes, drawings, contracts, and specifications in accordance with company standards
  • Contractor liaison / oversight for investigation and remedial programs
  • Problem-solving using standard engineering / scientific methods
  • Preparing invoices and budget tracking
  • Coordinating project tasks, implementing fieldwork, participating in remedial design efforts
  • Demonstrating effective analytical, interpretive, time, and project management skills
  • Communicating effectively to team members; both verbal and written forms of communication

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science
  • An associate degree in a similar field would be accepted with the intent of completing a Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and other Federal regulations
  • Familiarity with New York State (NYS) Technical Guidance For Site Investigation and Remediation (DER-10) along with other NYS regulations
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of products and Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD)
  • Able to conduct some fieldwork with heavy lifting and comfortable with working on Superfund-type projects
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle and be able to commute to sites in the metropolitan NYC area, primarily on Long Island
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
