Italian Village Restaurants is hiring a Server to join our Front of House team at Sotto, a restaurant that is part of a 3-unit historic, family-owned and operated restaurant group.
You’ll be the face of our restaurant to our guests and responsible for ensuring they have an entertaining and personal experience. Servers are responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, serving food & beverage, keeping their stations maintained, and processing payment. You need to be quick on your feet and have a polite and friendly attitude. If you feel energized by taking good care of people and thrive in a fast-paced work environment, we’d like to meet you!
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet guests with open arms and a smile
- Maintain a calm, poised and graceful demeanor under pressure
- Assist our guests with making selections of food and beverage that will enhance their experience and match their preferences
- Practice guest-oriented professionalism by keeping guests needs at the top of mind.
- Manage and maintain multiple tables at the same time through proper prioritization and communication with team members
- Set tables for service, with special attention to cleanliness and proper placement
- Handle complaints, problems, or issues with a positive attitude and escalate to management when needed
- Issue bills and apply payments accurately
- Follow our steps of service fully to ensure proper service to Italian Village standards
- Ensure the timely delivery of food and beverages
- Practice and exercise upselling opportunities by using your extensive knowledge of the food and wine menu
- Complete sidework thoroughly, independently and in a timely manner
- Follow company policies as communicated and updated
- Contribute to a memorable and magical dining experience
- Arrive to each shift on time and in full uniform
Qualifications (Required) :
Ability to get along with others - pleasant personality and neat, clean appearanceAt least 18 years of age and legally allowed to work in the United StatesAbility to follow verbal instructions well and accept constructive feedback on job performanceAbility to communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, and any other concerns with the Manager on DutyMust have Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) certification of willingness to obtain within 120 days of start, per Illinois State guidelinesWillingness to work nights and weekends regularlyWillingness to work flexible and irregular hoursAbility to lift and carry up to ~30 pounds frequently while moving across dining roomAbility to work standing on your feet for up to ~8 hours dailyAbility to perform tasks in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on qualityAbility to perform more than one task at a time and prioritizeAbility to move and work fast, but also be thoughtful and gentle as to not break, drop, or spillAbility to go up and down up to 3 flights of stairs as needed to perform tasksAbility to reach up to 6 feet overhead (can use crate) or bend over and stoop to the ground while cleaningAbility to work in spaces with slick, often wet floors in a careful mannerAbility to work in a confined, crowded, fast-moving space with high noise and light levelsCurrently Available Shifts
