Overview
The Maintenance Worker III performs a variety of skilled labor assisting in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of streets, storm drains, sewer lines, maintenance of airport, parks and other public grounds and facilities, construction and maintenance of water or wastewater mains, and maintenance of public facilities, lakes, and dam. Operates a wide range of equipment to perform maintenance activities.
Essential Functions
1. Performs maintenance work setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, spreading and laying asphalt, and spreading crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters or streets; operates air and jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.
2. Lays various pipes for storm or sanitary sewers, drains, and water mains to ensure proper flow is maintained.
3. Loads and unloads tools, construction material, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made.
4. Flags traffic and sets out barricades, cones or other safety devices to help ensure the safety of the crew and the public.
5. Digs ditches and trenches grading to specific evaluation; trims, shovels, cuts, and cleans up debris and removes vegetation.
6. Assists in cleaning drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains, and sewer lines using various power operated equipment to remove debris or stoppage.
7. Drives dump truck, tractor driven mowers, or other equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies, or material to and from the work site.
8. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions; tracks inventory of equipment and follows safety and disposal guidelines for chemicals and other repair fluids.
9. Cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors and facility grounds to maintain upkeep of facility, street medians, and vacant lots removing any hazards and ensuring safety of tenants; provides landscape maintenance at golf course and on other public areas.
10. Performs Facility Safety Inspections, MED Inspections, and checks for fire extinguishers; reports any problems to supervisor.
11. Performs other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
Three (3) years of experience performing various maintenance and labor work.
Licenses and Certifications
Texas Driver's License with good driving history.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) License.
Must have Commercial Driver's License Class B.
Texas Vehicle Inspectors License may be required for certain departments.
Salary Range
$22.99 - $25.56 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
