Position Summary
The overall objective of this role is to drive financial performance by providing research, analytics, and recommendations on complex business modeling, non-standard reporting, and impacts of changing accounting principles to leadership. This position requires extensive expertise in cash management principles, including accounting analysis & reporting, accounting controls & audit, and payment process governance.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, reconcile, audit and summarize financial data for use by management in making finance decisions and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Report Cash and Payment exceptions within the organization, calculate accruals using business knowledge and extrapolations from historical data or future projections based on probability.
- Lead period close activities such as reconciliations and journal entries for assigned discipline, maintaining current knowledge of specialized accounting and / or current tax laws and governmental regulations.
- Identify and assess financial variances, providing insight and advice for senior management regarding accounting issues from reconciliation or reported results.
- Compile accurate period, quarterly, and annual reports and complete requests for non-standard reports.
- Serve as a technical resource during internal and external audit processes.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; gain cooperation through persuasiveness.
- Partner with Store Operations, Retail Services, Banking, Information Technology, and other business partners to identify and solve complex business issues.
- Answer Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet questions for assigned accounts; ensure completion of period-end checklist for accurate reporting of income and receivables.
- Ensure accounting transactions adequately report and manage GL and Bank-related accounts; perform account analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
- Serve as point of contact for 3rd party vendor relations for outsourced functions and lead special projects for the department.
