CALMRA serves adults, age 18 years or older, with cognitive disabilities in Prince George’s and Montgomery County, Maryland. Many of the individuals we serve also have physical disabilities. These individuals require 24-hour assistance in all areas of living; eating, bathing, dressing, transportation, etc. Individuals live with one or two housemates and receive support from trained, paid, and caring staff. CALMRA also operates a Senior Center in Laurel, MD to provide day services to seniors or those with age-related disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and / or physical disabilities.

Position Title : Full Time Weekend Direct Support

Supervised By : Community Living Supervisor or Program administrator

Qualifications : AA Degree or 60 semester hours in a related field of study or 15 semester hours and ones year’s related professional experience or high school degree with 3 years experience. Friendly, organized, good verbal and written communication ability. Positive attitude, driver’s license and good driving record, and car / ability to drive car / van is a must.

Schedules : Every Wednesday 3 PM – 11 PM and every other weekend –OR- every weekend Friday 7 AM through Monday 11 PM (includes sleep overnights). NO financial compensation is provided for sleep time.

Essential Job Functions

A. Program Planning

• Participate in the completion of assessments.
• Participate in team meetings and staff meetings.
• Implement all plans as written.
• Implement behavior change programs.
• Meet with behavior management consultant as directed.
• Complete all required data on time and accurately.
• Complete all incident reports on time and accurately.

B. Household Management

C. Supervision of Assistant Counselors

D. Health and Safety

E. Community Participation and Leisure Skill Development

F. Communication

G. Other Duties as Assigned by the CLS or Administrative Supervisor
